Astra Psychiatry Prescribing Policy & Clinical Standards
1. Evidence-Based Clinical Care
Comprehensive Evaluation: All treatment recommendations and medication decisions are made following a thorough clinical evaluation and are based on clinical judgment, evidence-based guidelines, and patient safety.
No Prescribing Guarantee: Scheduling an appointment does not guarantee a specific diagnosis, medication prescription, continuation of existing medications, controlled substance prescribing, or ongoing care with Astra Psychiatry.
Quantity Restrictions: Prescriptions for controlled substances are limited to a maximum 30-day supply.
Mandatory Appointments: Ongoing prescribing requires mandatory follow-up appointments and active monitoring; refills are not issued automatically.
3. Continuation of Existing Regimens
Re-Evaluation Required: Continuation of medications prescribed by previous providers is not guaranteed and is evaluated during your clinical assessment.
4. Telehealth Verification & Prescription Safety
Identity Verification: Federal and state telehealth regulations require identity verification prior to receiving care.
PDMP Monitoring: Clinicians review state Prescription Drug Monitoring Programs (PDMP/PMP) prior to prescribing controlled substances, as required by law.
5. Scheduling & Communication Policies
Clinical Communications: Treatment decisions and refill requests are addressed exclusively during scheduled visits.
Cancellations & Fees: We require at least 24 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule appointments. Unattended appointments ("no-shows") are charged the full fee. Patients joining more than 10 minutes late may be marked as a no-show and billed accordingly.
